Become a Certified Game Facilitator!
As a pedagogical intervention the World Climate Game can be used to deepen understanding and knowledge of climate and global sustainability in both school and extracurricular contexts.
In our training seminars you will be introduced to the game method step by step. You will learn about methodology, game mechanisms, backgrounds, and learning objectives. We provide you with practical training and tips for independent use. The training to become a World Climate Game Facilitator concludes with a certification that entitles you to perform the game independently.
The following training modules must be completed in order to become a certified facilitator:
Module 1: A Complete Player Experience (min. 3 days)
The first step towards becoming a facilitator is full participation in a three‑day World Climate Game as a player. For this purpose, Weitblick GmbH organizes multiplier games for the target group of adults.
Module 1 is free of charge and open to everyone.
Module 2: Facilitation Seminar (2.5 to 3 days)
In this module, the educational foundations of the World Climate Game are taught. The game process and rules are explained in detail, as well as the use of the web applications for players and facilitators. The content of the game is reflected upon in the context of environmental education, climate education, political education, and climate communication. In addition, participants are introduced to the basics of simulation game theory, methods for reflection rounds and debriefing. Inputs are also provided on conflict moderation, group dynamics, player typologies, and the promotion of life skills.
Module 3: Hands‑On Internship (min. 3 days)
To conclude the training, the prospective facilitator will intern during a game implementation led by experienced trainers. They are expected to take on an active and supportive role in order to gain initial implementation experience in a safe and guided setting.
You can find information about the upcoming training dates here.
World Climate Game certification:
In order for us to issue an official facilitation certification after completion of all three modules, we require two documents:
- A criminal record certificate for child and youth welfare. Note: This certificate cannot be obtained online. Further information can be found here.
- A signed Code of Conduct, which we will send to you.
